Abstract:

Motivated by a desire to study stability conditions involving higher Chern forms, I will introduce an analogue of the Monge-Ampere equation for a metric on a holomorphic vector bundle. For rank 2 bundles on surfaces I shall describe stability obstruction involving the second character. Some examples of solutions, a moment map interpretation, and a Chern class inequality (for rank-2 bundles on surfaces) will also be discussed.
