Prof. Anders Karlsson, Universität Genf: "Subadditivity"

Jul 06, 2018 from 04:15 PM to 05:15 PM

LMS 4 - Raum 424 - Kleiner Hörsaal

This talk will discuss aspects of the elementary notion of subadditivity, which arises naturally in several contexts often caused by a triangle inequality. "When things don't line up or pull in the same direction."  I will mention some examples and describe the basics of the structure of subadditive sequences and processes, from a fact often called Fekete's lemma, via Kingman's important theorem, to a recent result in a joint paper with Sébastien Gouëzel.
