Abstract:
In this talk we propose a method to stabilize the mixed velocity-pressure finite element method of the coupled Stokes-Darcy equations by using the technique of Dohrmann-Bochev.
This approach is based on the local $L^{2}$-polynomial pressure projection into a discontinuous space of one degree less than the approximation space used to define the
pressure. We discuss the stability of the discrete problem and derive optimal error estimates in the natural norms, for both velocity and pressure solutions.
