Colloquium Prof. Vitali Milman, Tel Aviv University, Israel: "Flowers and Reciprocity versus Polarity"

Dec 07, 2018 from 04:15 PM to 05:15 PM

LMS 4 - Raum 424 - Kleiner Hörsaal

I will discuss a new development inside classical Convexity Theory.
In particular, we show that the classical Polarity map may be decomposed as the product of two maps, the first of them sending the family of convex bodies to a family of "flowers", and  the second being essencially the spherical inversion which return us back to the family of convex bodies in a way that every body is mapped to its polar.
This is a joint work with Emanuel Milman and Liran Rotem.
